• Globalisation is a complex geographical concept defined as the process in which the world is becomingly increasingly interconnected.
• Globalisation involves a variety of different flows/connections. Flows include commodities, capital, information, migrants and tourists. Globalisation is responsible for the widening and deepening of global connections, interdependence and flows. This has created a 'shrinking world'.
• Globalisation varies in width and depth, it is a variable process.
• Globalisation can be social, economic, cultural, political and environmental.
• Capitalism is often linked with globalisation. Capitalism is said to be encouraged by the openness of globalisation.
