MEET THE TEAM!

Let's take a look at the faces behind the scenes of The Scroll and the team that makes your Scrolling experience so grand and memorable!

THE SCROLL OFFICERS

Deenie Bulyalert

The Scroll President, Writer, Editor

She/They

Hi, beautiful people! My name is Deenie. Weird name, I know, but it's kind of cool. You may or may not know me, but I am this year's president of The Scroll  and a Senior here at GP. Also, your new friend, if you wanna be.

If you have read The Scroll  before, then you have definitely seen my name around. I write articles like interviewing people for our monthly mental health column and I also take on other projects, here and there.

I am pretty involved in the school, being part of 5 other clubs and an officer of 3, but being part of The Scroll has allowed me to come out of my comfort zone. I have been able to start being myself while doing things I love and I really adore being part of this team.

I love talking to people and understanding what makes them, them. If you need/want to contact me or talk to me about my dinosaur obsession, my email is p.bulyalert@d7apps.gp.k12.or.us

Stay kind, you’re amazing, and have fun reading :)

Aylah Graves

The Scroll Vice President

She/Her

Hi everyone! I'm Aylah Graves and I am the Vice President of The Scroll this year and I am a Junior here at GP. I have been writing for The Scroll for 3 years now and I have loved every minute of it. I write about various topics from politics to true crime. I have a "Teacher Feature" column I write every other month and I just recently began a new podcast series. I am so excited to see all of the new things we come up with and develop this year so be sure to check us out every month!

Lillie Olson

The Scroll Chief Editor

She/Her

Hey, loves! I'm Lillie Olson, a Junior and a writer/editor for The Scroll at Grants Pass High School. Also, I'm here if you ever need anything.

I write occasionally on various topics but mainly I just format, edit the issues and give you polls. Along with this club, I am in Marching Band. (A flute, I know, I know. But I promise I don't fit the quiet stereotype). I always try to demonstrate and encourage others to take the most mature road and analyze situations from all points of view to find the most growth possible while understanding that everyone is a flawed human being.

If you ever need to contact me, please feel free to email me at my school email. I check it almost every day, so I promise not to ignore you.

l.olson@d7apps.gp.k12.or.us

Keep going. You got it!

Teagan McNamara

The Scroll Treasurer & Photojournalist

She/They

Hey everyone! My name is Teagan, and I am a Junior here at Grants Pass High School. This is now my third year of writing in Journalism and for The Scroll. I am also the Treasurer here for The Scroll club. I mostly write photojournalism and informative articles. I enjoy reading, photography and drawing, which I like to incorporate into The Scroll. Outside of The Scroll, I am in a few other clubs, such as PRIDE club and the Thespian troupe. You will usually find me with my friends. I also started getting involved in theatre, which I enjoy, too. The program has a lot of fantastic people, so you should join!

Check out our articles each month and give feedback. We have an astonishing, lovely and creative Scroll team here at GPHS and I recommend joining us to make more great articles. If you need me for anything and would like to contact me, my email is t.mcnamara@d7apps.gp.k12.or.us  I respond relatively quickly.

Thank you for supporting and reading The Scroll. I hope you enjoy loves! =)

Kai Blackmon

The Scroll PR Director and Chief Sarcasm Kid

They/Them

Hello, all! My name is Kai and, apart from running the Scroll's Instagram and making sure everything is up to date on information, I primarily write satire articles for the issues because, as Mrs. Connelly says, "I heckle everyone equally." I work as the treasurer for the Thespian Troupe 2354 and I participate in community theatre, as well as our own high school theatre productions. Yes, I am going insane: send help and/or coffee. I am currently a sophomore and I can't wait to see what this year is going to be like--I could definitely do without some of my classes, though. If there is any need, you can contact me at zachaiblackmon@gmail.com and I will respond to you if I actually feel like being a good person. >:)

Have fun Scrolling!

Amber Medina-Montoya

The Scroll Secretary

She/They

Hey there! My name's Amber, and I'm a Junior here at GPHS. Aside from being The Scroll's Secretary, I often write music reviews and occasionally contribute to the photography you see on the site, though I've been focusing more on writing than photography this year. Aside from The Scroll, I'm also vice president for the Pride Club and I've also been getting involved with the school's Thespian Troupe as well. Outside of school you can find me getting involved in community theatre (yes I know, another theatre kid running this thing), or working at Pita Pit. If you can't tell, I like to keep myself busy. When I'm not working on my extracurriculars, I like cooking/baking, playing any of the four instruments I know how to play, or playing some video games. I'm also a huge Legend of Zelda nerd and Swiftie, so if you wanna chat about that, or for any other reason at all, feel free to email me at ambermedinamontoya@gmail.com

Have a good day lovelies. <3

THE SCROLL CLUB MEMBERS

Nathaniel Lee

Creative Writer/Storyspinner

Ayyyy! Wassup, readers? My name is Nathaniel. I'm a junior, and this is my second year writing for The Scroll. I run the Creative Corner portion. By all means, submit something! Poetry, short stories, even a haiku. Screenplay, anyone? Just kidding...maybe. I mostly do short stories, but I might try doing some informative articles, too. When I’m not reading or writing, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. I also enjoy playing the viola and the piano, as well as singing. I regularly annoy my friends with crazy ideas, and if you ask any of them, they'll agree.

I hope that you enjoy my writing and, if you have any ideas for short stories or any questions, then you can email me at n.lee@d7apps.gp.k12.or.us

Have a swagalicious day.

AVERIE BLACK

Journalist

She/her

Hey there! I’m Averie Black, and I am a sophomore at GP. I have been obsessed with writing ever since I read Percy Jackson in third grade, so I became a journalist for The Scroll! I specialize in book reviews and random articles, so you'll see me pop up everywhere. When I’m not at school, tennis practice, or doing Frye homework, I enjoy listening to Destroy Boys and reading trashy YA books.

The Scroll has such a good community and offers so many opportunities I wouldn't have had otherwise. If you have any suggestions, just want to talk, or are itching to know my Goodreads because my book taste is superioryou can hit me up at a.black@d7apps.gp.k12.or.us

Happy reading :D

Peter Easterwood

Journalist

He/him

Hey, readers!

I'm Peter Easterwood, a sophomore at Grants Pass High School. This will be my first year being a part of The Scroll, so I'm excited to share my writings will all of you. I'll mainly write about music, either ratings of specific albums or talking about artist news. I hope I grow with my writing, and genuinely just have fun with my articles.

If you have any specific albums you want me to rate, or have an artist you want me to write about, just email me. My email is p.easterwood@d7apps.gp.k12.or.us

LILY ELFRINK

Opinion/Satire/Political Writer Person

Hello, fellow hum-beans! My name is Lily Elfrink, in case you for some reason missed the size 29 font above, and I am a sophomore here at this school we attend (GPHS.) I have been in The Scroll since the beginning of my freshman year and, so far, have found it incredibly enjoyable. My specialty is writing sometimes political articles that could be classified as both opinion and satire, and trying to write articles that I can't publish because they would "get Tyrrell fired" or whatever. What can I say? I like being difficult.

If you have an idea for an article or a complaint about another article, you can reach me at l.elfrink@d7apps.gp.k12.or.us.

Have a great time Scroll ing and read on, readers! (Or else.)

GarRison Gove

Journalist

Hello. My name is Garrison Gove. I am a junior. I mostly write about whatever useless information I have stored in my head, just in case someone else might find it interesting. I play the viola in the orchestra (sorry about your ribs, Mrs. DeBolt!) and am also involved in Brain Bowl. Outside of school and work, I mostly sit around editing wikis and contemplate how much of my life I'm wasting by sitting around editing wikis. I also enjoy rafting, skiing, and traveling, so I'd like to think I'm not a total loser. I love researching history and geography, both in the state of Oregon and on a global scale. If you have any ideas, complaints, or suggestions, you can contact me at g.gove@d7apps.gp.k12.or.us (but don't bother talking to me if you don't listen to the Violent Femmes or Primus.)

Karlee Cornell

Journalist

Hello, Scrollers! My name is Karlee. I'm a junior here at Grants Pass High School. I make pop culture articles for The Scroll; I love the idea of music articles, in general, so I'm very excited to share all sorts of different music artists and bands every month with you all. You can probably find me being completely fascinated by the school's library or find me with my friends. If you're bored and want to suggest something or want to talk about music, my email is k.cornell1@d7apps.gp.k12.or.us I won't tune you out. I promise.

Madison heth

Journalist

Hey! I am Madison Heth, a junior here at Grants Pass High School. This is my second school year writing for The Scroll. I was introduced to Journalism during my second semester of sophomore year, and let's just say… I’ve loved it! I had never really thought about writing articles but it was something that I quickly began to enjoy. I particularly enjoy photojournalism and making satirical cartoons, though I am really an all-around writer. A few (maybe) interesting facts about me are that I am a ballet dancer and an equestrian. Being a part of The Scroll has been a great experience for me. The group is incredibly accepting and just all-around fun to be with. So, if you like writing or are interested in trying Journalism, I 100% recommend The Scroll!

If you have any questions, article ideas or concerns, then just let me know! My email is: @m.heth@d7apps.gp.k12.or.us

REGAN MORAN

Journalist

Howdy, Scrollers! I am Regan Moran, a junior at GPHS. I have been writing for The Scroll since my sophomore year and have fallen in love with it ever since! Writing for The Scroll gives me the freedom to write and report about any topic I find interesting. It is an amazing way to get into the community at the high school and find other people who also enjoy writing. The Scroll members are such a kind and talented group of young adults and I am so glad I am able to be a part of this community! Some interesting things about me would be that I enjoy horseback riding, quadding, baking, hiking, reading, camping, and spending time with friends and family. I have many values in my life but, if I could only pick a few, they would be my family, friends, and pets. I have two precious Nigerian Dwarf goats which are amazing pets to have-- if you like being hit in the shins constantly.

If you have any True Crime or GP Update recommendations, feel free to email me at r.moran@d7apps.gp.k12.or.us

Enjoy Scrolling! :)

Kayla Newman

Journalist, Cartoonist, Photographer

She/Her

Hello to all the cool people reading The Scroll this month! I hope you enjoy all of the incredible work that all of the Scrollians put into this fantastic newspaper. It is my pleasure to introduce myself to you. My name is Kayla, and I am a senior. I love everything caffeine, and I have no impulse control. In articles, I love bringing awareness to different disabilities, illnesses, and diseases. I also enjoy doing articles about whatever I'm passionate about at that moment (gotta love hyper-fixations). Meanwhile, in cartoons, I focus more on the political side of things.

You can contact me at m.newman@d7apps.gp.k12.or.us, though, beware of the chances of me checking my email is as likely as (name musical group that broke up and will never get back together).

Mia Reese

Writer

Hey, guys! My name is Mia Reese. I am a sophomore this year here at Grants Pass High School. This will be my second year writing for The Scroll and I am so excited to see what this year will bring. In my free time, I love to hang out with my friends, watch a good movie, read or annoy my little brothers.

If you ever have any questions or just need to talk to someone, feel free to email me at m.reese@d7apps.gp.k12.or.us

Kaylee Brazzle

Journalist / Clumsy Human

I'm Kaylee Brazzle, a freshman at Grants Pass High School. This is going to be my first year on The Scroll, but I'm so excited to write and be a part of this writing family! I love Disney, hanging out with my friends, reading, and school. I'm extremely clumsy, but my niceness covers that.

If you want to email me to just talk and be friends, or ask me about doing articles, then just do it! My email is k.brazzle@d7apps.gp.k12.or.us

Riley Barta

Writer

Howdy, I am Riley Barta, a freshman at Grants Pass High School. None of my articles fit together cohesively. Whether you want to learn some obscure story about the town or snoop on whatever Kanye West is doing, I'm your gal! I like a lot of stuff: space, rocks, classical literature, language, moral codes, politics, philosophy, etc. When I'm not at school or doing German Club, I research niche topics and go to the park. Seriously, too much of my time is spent at a park listening to Broadway hits.

I try to write an article about Grants Pass every month so, if you have a story to share, then please tell me! Contact me at r.barta@d7apps.gp.k12.or.us
