In this article, JJ Norton discusses how development can cause a child to act a certain way and why devices can help their anxiety and other strong emotions they may be feeling.
The development of a child's mind always depends on the environment in which they grew up, combined with the methods their parents or guardians use. Even communities and housing situations can be a way to change the mindset process. Another way that many parents believe will affect a child's development is brainrot, which is a waste of time. However, television can also cause positive reactions in children. It can help them learn the skill sets they need in the future, like boosting cognitive abilities, fostering social skills, enhancing emotional resilience, and improving motor skills.
New York University states on their website that the “(RITEC) project, establishes that digital gaming companies and game designers can and should support the well-being of children through the games they produce and demonstrates that digital play has a particularly positive impact on children’s autonomy, competence, creativity, and identity when it responds to their deep interests, needs and desires.” This proves that the designs of certain video games have positive impacts on children and can cause children to have strong independence. These games can help a child’s imagination and creativity via new ideas. This study from NYU was founded and conducted by the LEGO foundation, as well as by co-founder UNICEF.

Harvard University states that”Many adults have a tendency to truncate or limit game time, but it’s important to understand that fun and learning can often be one and the same. Instead, the challenge may not just be to find a high-quality game, but to find ways to support kids in making meaningful connections between their play and the world around them.” Sometimes, letting a child play Minecraft or Roblox for a few hours is not an issue, as long as they do not play all the time and have time for educational and real-world activities, like going outside and socializing with other kids.
The effects of technology are not always bad for children, but can instead be a learning opportunity, as long as parents supervise and make note of the type of programs children are on and what games they play. The internet might be a scary place for small children, but sometimes there are also good places, free of worry or danger. As explained by studies at both NYU and HAVARD, through these ways, children can gain new skill sets and other building blocks for their small imaginations.
