We are so close to summer! With only a few days left of school, it is time to wrap up (and totally not ignore) any assignments that you have left, and start looking toward what is in the near future: summer break. We need to make the best of our summer break because, unfortunately, it is far too short. With less than three months of school-free days, according to Grants Pass High School Homepage's calendars, it is important not to waste one bit of it. To help make sure that no wasting-of-summer-breaks occur this year, here are some ideas to cure any future boredom during the coming summer months.
Obviously, you can't make the best out of your summer break without going swimming at least once. Whether it's going to a lake, river, or even the pool in your backyard, it is almost guaranteed boredom-curing fun. With an almost infinite amount of games to play in the water, the only people not having fun would be those boring people who just tan the whole time, never actually getting in the water, even though they promised their friends that they would. Trust me: it is not as cool as they think it is. The coolest people at the pool are, by far, always the ones playing mermaids together.
Another great way to pass the time is to go on a hike. Going outside and breathing in the fresh air can brighten anyone's mood. It can also be great socializing time, as there is no limit to the amount of people that can go. Hikes also have beautiful scenery, with the lush, green leaves covering the sky as the sun shines between them, and the flowers on the ground bedazzled with brilliant shades of pink, yellow, and purple. And, to make it even better, you don't even have to leave town. There are plenty of local hiking trails in Grants Pass, so you can save time and still be a little bit lazy and active at the same time. Visit Grants Pass gives some beautiful places to hike around Grants Pass, like Eight Dollar Mountain Botanical Wayside, Mount Elijah and Bigelow Lakes, and Provolt Recreation Site. And, none are farther away than an hour and a half! That being said, there are plenty of smaller, yet just as beautiful hikes in the city of Grants Pass. Some of these are Cathedral HIlls, Sky Crest Trail Head, and Rainy Falls. If you're feeling down, then a hike is a sure way to turn your frown upside down.
Summer is the perfect time to have a sleepover with friends. Everything becomes more fun at home when friends are over. You could watch a movie, paint, sculpt, and more. XO Ashley also provides the best way to make a blanket fort. The article's instructions are: “1. Set up two rows of chairs with the backs facing each other. 2. Make the space comfy with blankets and pillows. 3. Drape a sheet or lightweight blanket over the chairs. 4. Secure the blanket with clothespins or heavy objects like a stack of books.” And, you can add themed decorations if you want to give it an extra cozy vibe. With the steps literally given to you, it is almost impossible to not try it at least once this summer.
Another great thing to do at a sleepover is play games. Some of the best are Charades, Monopoly, Battleship, Apples to Apples, and Clue. Although, that doesn't mean the list ends there. There are plenty of card games and less widely known board games to play as well! Games are a sure way to fill up your summer break with Aggravation, distrust, and laughter.
Hopefully, at least one of these ideas helped to cure the boredom of summertime. That being said, you can do whatever you want (preferably something legal), because this is summer break!
