Fallon talks about the upcoming One Piece remake.
With the initial introduction of the hit manga One Piece in 1997, it has thrived ever since. From being adapted into one of the most popular anime series worldwide, and a total of 1,100+ episodes, One Piece will be getting a much-needed remake. Since the release of Netflix’s live-action interpretation of One Piece, they have also announced a remake of the animated series. The project will consist of the East Blue saga, covering 100 chapters of the manga and 61 episodes of the anime. Not only that, but fans should also be expecting a second season of Netflix’s One Piece live-action.

The One Piece East Blue saga plays the role of arguably one of the most important sagas out of the entire series. This saga establishes the overall setting and main plot of One Piece; however, many fans consider this saga to be bad. One Piece is vastly known for its slow pacing, which is most prominently shown through the East Blue Saga. Being made in 1999 the animation quality is not exactly the best per se, but it definitely makes it harder to fully enjoy the story. The magazine Game Rant states, “If One Piece's upcoming project manages to fix the pacing issues, as well as provides a new approach to the series and animates it beautifully, this is surely a win for One Piece fans all over the world.” Considering the production issues One Piece has had to endure and how old the anime itself is, a remake is much needed.
Since Netflix has released their live action interpretation of One Piece, it is safe to say the franchise has gained a large amount of new fans. Most individuals who have debated on committing to the excessively long anime have been influenced to do just that after witnessing the live action. The TV series has received much praise, and has been called by many the best live action adaptation of a manga or anime series yet; considering Netflix’s previous attempts to execute this, such as their frowned upon Death Note live action. Due to the series success, Netflix has announced a second season just two weeks after its release, which is actively in development.
The upcoming remake has been titled THE ONE PIECE and will be produced by the WIT Studio, streaming on Netflix. With that being said, Netflix has previously mentioned, “With THE ONE PIECE, the committee aims to provide viewers with a fresh yet familiar experience, utilizing cutting-edge visual technology to reimagine Luffy’s adventures through the beloved East Blue saga.” This statement makes it clear that the new series will provide a new interpretation of the One Piece East Blue saga. It is unclear exactly what fans should be expecting from this new production, along with the release date. Considering the vastness of the announcement, it will most likely come sooner than later.

With the upcoming release of the live-action second season and the East Blue saga remake, Netflix is evidently stretching out its success with One Piece.
