What is a Zine? A zine is a homemade publication that's about anything you are interested in. Zine is pronounced "zeen" like the end of magazine. I wanted to teach you how to make a zine today because its a great way to express yourself and create. Your zine could be a fanzine (about a tv show or band you like), a poetry zine, a cooking zine, an art zine, a sports zine or just a personal zine. You have endless options when it comes to zines.
Zines are about self expression and creativity! Which you are all amazing at.
Watch the video below to learn how to make a small zine book. Then we will talk about how to design the pages inside.
Materials:
Paper, pencil, scissors
Optional for creating pages: markers, glue, magazines, or colored pencils.

To the right is another set of instructions for folding and a zine.
When you go to create the pages you can draw and color with the book folded or you can unfold the zine and draw. If you choose the second option please note that the pages are not going to be right next to each other. Below is a picture of how the page numbers work when the paper is flat. Please look at it as a reference for help.
Now that you have the zine folded and created its time to design, draw, and create!
Choose a subject
Decide what will be on each page
choose if you will draw or color. You could also find a magazine and cut out images and paste them on to your pages. This is called collage and you have made a collage before at the beginning of the year when we made portraits.
At this point I just want you to have fun designing your pages.
