This week I would like to invite you to observe a sunset. Take a picture of it if you can. Notice all the colors that combine to create it's beauty.
Update: Observe the snow outside and capture a snowy day in a jar.
This lesson is inspired by Joanne Liu's "My Sunset Collection" where she recreated nine sunsets she had observed. I love that instead of a tradition sunset drawing she instead placed each sunset in a jar, this way she could collect them and keep them for her memory and to share with us.
We are going to draw the sunsets we have observed/taken a picture of.
Materials:
Paper
Pencil
Colored Pencils or Markers
Directions:
You can be inspired by Joanne Liu's Jars and draw your sunset in a Jar or you can make it look like a photograph. For mine I choose to make it look like a Polaroid.
Draw your jar or photograph
Color your sunset in or snowy day.
Take a black pencil or marker and draw any objects you see over the top of the sunset
When your finished share it with me at ajjameson@graniteschools.org
I would love to see what you make!
Here is my example:
This is extra is you would like to learn how to blend using colored pencils.
