A very important element of art is shapes. This week I want to invite you to look for the shapes that shadows create. We are going to capture shadows this week by tracing them. When we trace we draw a line around the outside edge of a shape or object. Watch the videos below to learn how to particapte in this art lesson.
Supplies:
Toys that stand up i.e. dinosaurs. action figures, dolls, blocks, legos (these are just a handful of ideas)
paper
crayons or pencil
optional:
Chalk
Here I use toys and draw the shadows they make by tracing the lines. After you trace the shadows color them in with patterns and make them your own.
Here I traced the shadow of a person using chalk. You can have your whole family participate, this is an art activity everyone can enjoy. You can trace the shadows you make with your bodies. Stand in crazy, fun, and different ways so your shadows are more interesting. Then add a face and clothes if you want!
Have fun collecting shadows!
