Student Textbook Procedures
Keep all student math work books at your school.
Books do not get sent to other schools even if a student is moving.
Admin & Secretaries can order additional books from Granite's warehouse.
All students Grades K-8 participate
Fall (or first) diagnostic will automatically start when students log in to i-Ready for the first time this school year.
Additional diagnostics must be assigned.
Missing students on your i-Ready roster? Classes and students are pulled directly from Focus and uploaded nightly. Check to make sure the students are rostered correctly in Focus. Students must have a state ID number; if they are new to the district, it could take 2-5 days for a state number to be assigned. If Focus seems correct, submit a Halo ticket for the missing students.

Homework Ideas
Have students play the learning games at home. You can tell them which game to play each week and follow up using the Reports.
You could use the green pages for homework since the blue pages are done in the whole group lesson.
The Family Letter is in the front of each lesson. Pull that page out of their books and send them home as the homework for the 3-5 days of your lesson. There are great activities for families to engage in math together and develop vocabulary and oral language. There are multiple languages available in the Teacher Toolbox.
Fluency pages are included as a resource in each lesson in the Teacher Toolbox.
Send home a game from the Building Fact Fluency kit for students to play with families for practice.
Send home a center game from the Teacher Toolbox on the student's skill level to play with their family.
Assign an Interactive Practice tutorial under Assign & Teach for the student to do on their dashboard. These are similar to the My Path modules in the Personalized Instruction program that is an add-on to the i-Ready curriculum.
Send an extension or reteach activity page from the lesson.
Send home an activity from a prior lesson or grade based on student need. It could be a fluency page, center activity, Tools for Instruction lesson, extension activity, etc.
Have students work on Personalized Instruction (My Path) at home. Total usage should not exceed 49 minutes per week.
BEFORE THE DIAGNOSTIC
Granite Recommendations
Plan to complete the Diagnostic in smaller increments to prevent burn-out and rushing:
Spend 3-5 days completing the diagnostic for 15-20 minutes each day
Have students stop at the brain break games which occur between domains
A student can stop at any point and progress will be saved (Exception: Complete all the directions at the beginning and start into the first question before stopping or the student will have to repeat all the directions the next day.)
Request an older group of students to be mentors to help lower grade students stay on task
Use the presentation to prepare your students for this unique type of assessment to get more accurate results (See How Diagnostic is Adaptive)
Data chats and goal setting are highly encouraged.
i-Ready’s Projected Proficiency can help determine if your students are on track to demonstrating proficiency on RISE
Prepare Your Students Using the Presentation
Half of the questions will be too hard or above grade level
Encourage students to not rush but also not spend too long on one problem
Students will see questions not on their grade level due to the adaptive nature
Audio support is available for all K-5 diagnostic items

Video: How to Switch to SPANISH diagnostic.
ONLY for students who have it written in their EL Plan
ALL 3 diagnostics during the year need to be given in Spanish.
Switch to Spanish FIRST and THEN assign the diagnostic.
DURING THE DIAGNOSTIC
You can choose to RESET the diagnostic if student is flagged as rushing, and the data is not reflective of student ability.
If student completed the diagnostic: Check with your administrator first then Reassign it.
If still working in the diagnostic: Check with your administrator first then Follow These Directions. (Scroll down to see the step by step instructions for "How do I assign or cancel a Diagnostic.")
AFTER THE DIAGNOSTIC
Students reaching stretch growth 2 yrs in a row can reach grade level proficiency no matter how many grade levels below they started. Read the SUMMARY. Read the FULL REPORT.

Personalized Instruction ("My Path")
Lessons are assigned based on the latest Diagnostic results. Students should complete 30-49 minutes per week in math lessons with at least 70% passed.
After the first Diagnostic, explain to students what i-Ready Personalized Instruction is.
Show them the student dashboard by using the Getting Students Ready for Personalized Instruction presentation (English | Spanish), or access Getting Kindergarten Students Started in Online Instruction.
Set goals for Percent of Lessons Passed and Lesson Time-on-Task, and review class routines for getting to work quickly.
After subsequent Diagnostics, explain to students how their Diagnostic results will impact their Personalized Instruction lessons, remind students of their goals, and motivate them to work toward their goals with Personalized Instruction.
Contact Rachel or Heather for assistance in how to use the program effectively and support students with an alert.
Schools also have 1 or 2 days they can schedule with an i-Ready facilitator to help utilize the program and reports effectively.
See "Recognition of Students" section for ideas to reward progress.
Students should be using at least 30 minutes but no more than 50 minutes per WEEK!
