Proficiency Checks (Benchmarks) in School City Proficiency checks can be assigned by semester, quarter, or individual standards. A list of essential standards (which standards have a proficiency check available in School City) are at the beginning of grade level i-Ready Math Curriculum Maps found on grade level pages under Home on this website.

CLUSTER Questions in RISE
Some students will encounter math cluster questions for RISE. The questions have multiple parts. Students may have experienced cluster questions in Science RISE. You can review sample cluster questions using this link to https://utahrise.org/training-tests.html I'm told this is different from other tests you may have access to. You will need to interact with each question in the training test in order to get to the cluster question example:

4th-6th grades are NOT testing Acadience Math Benchmarks. They can choose to use the progress monitoring materials to track intervention success.
All K-3 classes are required by state legislation to administer Acadience 3 times per year and notify families. Math progress monitoring materials are available at the bottom of this webpage, but not required by the state at this time.
Because Acadience is a State Assessment, we still follow the same testing ethics. The two proctor requirement does not mean that both proctors need to be in the room; it means there should be another proctor who could step in if needed (someone roving between rooms for example).
"It is NOT necessary for teachers to submit a Halo ticket for every new student. Nothing has changed since the beginning of the year, as far as how students are rostered in ALO. Students should be automatically uploaded to ALO within a few (3ish) school days of enrollment. 95% of the time this happens without any problems. If a new/transfer student is not in ALO after 3+ school days, then I would suggest the teacher submit a ticket so we can troubleshoot. Teachers also do not need to submit tickets when students transfer out of their classes - only if it has been more than a week and the student is still on their ALO roster." Granite Assessment 1/14/2025

If a student doesn't enter any responses on a Computation form, type a dash (-) in ALO for just the first student response.
You can’t click the purple Enter Scores button for the last student in your class list. Simply click on the ^ at the top of the column next to the words “Student Name” to reorder the list so the bottom student is now at the top for you to enter the score.

Families must receive 2 letters (Parent Report from ALO & Notice of Interventions) no later than these dates:
BOY - October 30 MOY - February 28 EOY - June 30
Both letters are required to be sent home with students grades K-3 for students below benchmark (yellow and red).
Notice of Math and Reading Interventions Letter for Families - This is a new form for 2024-25. Click Here to print. Teachers will need to check the Reading and/or Math boxes for which sub measure(s) interventions are being provided. You just need one form for both reading and math. This is the same letter for all of K-3
ALO Parent Letter - Directions to access it in ALO HERE. You will need to print a report for each student. The directions show a screenshot for a Kinder classroom, but the directions are the same to access the letters no matter what grade level. It is the same directions to access the reading letter or the math letter – you just need to toggle between the two using the blue/green button at the top of the ALO page.
Also, in Focus for report cards teachers will mark if students are receiving interventions for Acadience reading and/or math.

State Growth Goal for Math Grades 1-3
In accordance with Board Rule R277-406, a State Growth Goal for Math has been set. The State Growth Goal for Math is set at 60%, which might look familiar to those who have been working with the State Growth Goal for Literacy. The State Growth Goal is that 60% of students in grades 1-3 (combined) need to make typical, above typical, or well above typical growth. Growth is determined by using Pathways of Progress data.
Highly Skilled Learner qualification is for students who are scoring at the top of the blue level and aren't able to make huge gains in POP since their scores are already at the top. This article describes Highly Skilled Learner for Acadience Reading. Acadience Math now has the highly skilled learner qualification in place for the POP report. Highly Skilled Learner Criteria for Math.
USBE Resources for Data Interpretation will help with what steps to take next after benchmark testing is completed. Once you enter data, click on the Class Reports tab in the Data Management program and select Initial Grouping Suggestions to have the program organize students into 4 groups. Use your professional judgement to make adjustments to those groups. The Pathways of Progress Report and the Student Math Pathways of Progress Graphs Report at MOY and EOY will be most beneficial to see which students are making at least typical progress and which students need extra support. INTERVENTIONS - Analyze your data with the Response Pattern Analysis in the Student Booklets. The Alignment to the Core links K-3 and 4-6 will help you focus interventions on the standards needed.

INTERVENTION
Acadience Reading & Math Legislation
Students in grades 1-3 who are receiving math interventions are recorded in Focus per the legislation. (More info will come as Focus comes online.)
Small group instruction is part of Tier 1 instruction. Tier 2 instruction is focused intervention, so this means the student already received small group instruction with the teacher and then receives more small group instructional time with the teacher, para, SPED teacher, or interventionist. Most of the time the intervention needs to be 20-30 extra minutes of focused instruction. Every student in the class would not be receiving intervention.

If you'd like training in how to use Progress Monitoring, please reach out to us!
PLEASE NOTE:
Do NOT send progress monitoring pages home. It is still part of a secured test.
Computation - only give 1 page each time. Benchmark requires Form A & Form B in the same sitting.
Do NOT review questions with students as it ruins the reliability of the assessment.
Administration times and directions are the same as the Benchmark.
"Progress Monitoring is the assessment that evaluates instruction. Instruction and intervention should be provided that matches student need." (Acadience Math Manual)
When starting progress monitoring, an intervention should be in place.
Students who are At or Above Benchmark (green & blue) do NOT need to be progress monitored. Tier 1 instruction should be sufficient for student growth. Progress monitoring could be used once or twice between benchmarks to ensure they are on target to remain at benchmark.
If the student's score is Below Benchmark (yellow), monitoring 1-2 times per month is probably sufficient to determine if the intervention is working.
If the student's score is Well Below Benchmark (red) or if you are monitoring out-of-grade-level, monitoring once per week is ideal, though every other week is probably sufficient to determine if the intervention is working.
For students who have below level scores in all areas, start with just one measure to progress monitor. In Grades 2-6 it would most likely be beneficial to implement an intervention with a computation skill and progress monitor computation. Two assessments of computation (A&B) are administered for benchmark, but only one page is given for progress monitoring.
To monitor out of level: Test back sequentially to the past grade level(s) until you find the measure on which the student scores at/above benchmark based on the end of the year benchmark goals for that grade. Progress monitor one level above where students demonstrated at/above benchmark.
Scores for progress monitoring should be entered in Acadience Learning Online. Use the intervention started or changed line. It will generate a vertical line on the student's graph showing that a change with instruction was made at that point in the data.
FROM USBE: Progress monitoring is optional and “the purpose of progress monitoring is to provide ongoing feedback to the teacher about the effectiveness of instruction and to make timely decisions about changes to instruction so that students will meet grade-level goals.”
