Prerequisite:  successful completion of Biology and Chemistry.  

This course is equivalent to a college freshman course. The principles of molecular and cellular biology, organisms and their structure and populations, diversity and evolution will be studied in depth. The curriculum will prepare students to take the A.P. Biology exam which all students will be expected to take in May. Depending on AP scores, this class may result in 3-8 hours of college credit and the possible waiver of one or two sections of chemistry for scientists, engineers and pre-med students. Prerequisite: Completion of Secondary Math 2 Honors. This is a math-based physics course for students who need an introductory physics background. AP Physics C (Mechanics) – 602150

Available for:  11-12 Grades

Prerequisite: Concurrent enrollment in Calculus.  AP Physics C: Mechanics is equivalent to a one-semester, calculus based, college-level physics course, especially appropriate for students planning to specialize or major in physical science, engineering, math, or another technology-based field. The course explores topics such as kinematics; Newton’s laws of motion; work, energy, and power; systems of particles and linear momentum; circular motion and rotation; and oscillations and gravitation. Astronomy - 603001

This one-semester science elective class will introduce you to the wonders of the universe! We will learn about the history of Astronomy and space exploration, survey the Sun and the planets of our Solar System, and discuss the stars and other fascinating (and sometimes dangerous!) objects out in space. We will talk about how events in the Universe have influenced and do influence life on our planet (no, not horoscopes), and discuss how discoveries involving the other plants can help us to build a better would here on Earth. Elementary Astronomy – CE (PHYS 1040)

Available for:  12th Grade

Prerequisite: Successful completion of either a physics or chemistry course. 

This is an Astronomy course offered through Salt Lake Community College (PHYS 1040: Elementary Astronomy). In this course students will learn about the process of science and the influence of light, motion, and gravity. We will study the planets of the Solar System, the nature and lives of the stars, and the larger structure of the Universe—galaxies and beyond. We will also discuss the fascinating discoveries astronomers are making today. Students will gain a greater appreciation of the night sky, and they will understand how we know as much about the Universe as we do.  Fees may apply.

Prerequisite: Successful completion of Biology or Chemistry course.

Biology 1010 is an introductory course for non-science majors. We will cover the study of living organisms from microbial life to multi-cellular organisms. The course will introduce cell structures and physiology, inheritance, evolution, and classification. Biology 1015 is laboratory study, experimentation, and analysis illustrating biological principles taught in 1010 and is taken concurrently along with 1010. 4 college credits hours, 1 high school credit. Geo 1020 CE – Fossils and Earth’s History

Available for: 12 grade

This course is an introduction to the 4.5-billion year geologic history of Earth and the evolution of life through fossils. Historical geology and fossils will be used to explore the physical science principles and scientific processes that leads to our understanding of Earth.  Fees may apply.
