This course follows a similar curriculum to Digital Photography 1, with an emphasis on the process and critique of modern photography and its impact on our world. We start at the basics, so even if you don’t have any experience in photography, you are in the right place. You will learn how to let light into the camera, and arrange the subject of your photo to make a beautiful composition. You will learn to edit photos in Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom Classic. As a Concurrent Enrollment class, a digital camera with Manual Exposure is required for this class (a Mirrorless or DSLR camera with manual exposure mode). This course is offered as CTE credit or can count as Art credit. SLCC course ART1050.

A digital camera is highly recommended for this class (either a Point-and Shoot, Mirrorless or DSLR camera). This course is offered as CTE credit or can count as Art credit.

Be on the production team of OlyTV! In this hands-on class, you will learn the world of broadcast journalism. On our news crew, you will learn how to use a camera, and learn to edit video in Adobe Premiere Pro. You will experience the various jobs of the newsroom: on-camera talent including anchor and reporter, audio mixing, technical director, teleprompter, and many more! You will film and edit news reports on school events and local news. You will rotate through the various crew responsibilities in the broadcast control room. You are also expected to participate in outside programming by OlyTV, including live streams of home football and basketball games, and live streams of other school functions. Become a content creator! This is a hands-on course exploring the video making process. You will learn to storyboard, film and edit your own videos. You will learn shot composition to tell visual narratives, how to let light into the video camera, and how to edit video footage in Adobe Preimere Pro to create a final video. Student videos are published to YouTube and shown in class. A digital camera that shoots video is highly recommended for this class (either a Point-and Shoot, Mirrorless or DSLR camera).
