What supplies would be beneficial for me to have at home in the event that we go into a virtual learning platform?

First, it is important to make yourself comfortable with our Google Classroom where we will be posting optional activities for students to do. The following are items that are encouraged but not necessary.

I would like to get in touch with you, how can I do that?

• A note in the agenda is always the best way to get in touch, we check them at the beginning of each morning.

• We will respond to your note through either the agenda or by phone (after school). 

*Due to COVID-19 concerns we are limiting the amount of back-and-forth materials between home and school. We will be using School Messenger for our daily communication between parents & educators.

My child is getting picked up early. How do I let you know? What if I forget, because you know, life happens! 

• Again, a note in the agenda is the best way to go! Please note the time you would like to have them in the office and we will try our best to have them ready to go and waiting for you!

• If you forget, not a problem. Give the school a call and the lovely ladies in the office will pass down the message.

• If we don't know about an early pick-up, it's very hard to have them in the office when we get the buzz. If you have places to be, a heads-up is the best way! 

* Again, School Messenger and a call to the main office will be the best way to communicate changes in transportation or early pick-ups. Please note that there will be NO unscheduled pick-ups after 2:15 pm (unless there is an emergency).

My child isn't going home the way they usually do. How do I let you know?

• This is an important one! A note or phone call to the school MUST be made BEFORE the end of the school day. 

• We must be made aware of any changes to how your child is getting home. If we are not notified they will be heading home in their usual fashion. Unfortunately, we can't take the word of a 5-year-old as they sometimes misunderstand. 

How will I know about what's going on at school?

• The classroom website will be updated each month and will list events that our Kindergarten students will or can participate in.

• A school newsletter is available through the Kensal Park website about upcoming news and events.

• The Kensal Park website, Facebook, Twitter, and School Messenger are all updated regularly.

How will I know about what's going on in the classroom?

• Our classroom webpage is a great spot to find information as we will be listing our Learning Goals (which will be our focus for the month) and Updates & Info under our Kindergarten section. The webpage will be updated each month.

• Our newsletter will highlight a few special learning from the past month and what we will be focusing on moving forward.

• Class Calendar.

• School Messenger and Instagram (mme.mackays.kinders) will also have some updates about what were are learning.

I want to celebrate my child's birthday with the class. How can I do that?

• Tattoos, pencils, erasers, or little trinkets from the Dollar Store are great small gifts that can be put into the agenda. 

• We generally discourage food from coming into the class as we need to be mindful of allergies and dietary restrictions.

* We do have special occasions where we will be making or serving food. We will be sending home a note beforehand so parents can share any questions or concerns beforehand, allowing substitutions, if necessary, to be made.

**Due to COVID-19 restrictions we will be asking that students do not bring in any items to distribute to the class.
