Classroom Expectations and Routines
FYI:
WELCOME, and thank you for coming in for me.
Students must sit at their assigned desk when they are in the classroom. They are not permitted to sit at someone else's desk unless they are given permission to do so for group or partner work.
Students are permitted to use personal technology (e.g., Chromebook, laptop, cell phone) at any time during the instructional day as long as it is used as a learning tool and a BYOD form has been submitted. This permission can be revoked any time by a staff member.
Students may listen to music on an iPod, .mp3 player, or cell phone while working as long as they have asked permission, have one earbud out, and the volume is not disrupting the learning of students around them. Students are not permitted to use YouTube for the purpose of listening to music. Students are not permitted to use personal devices for social media, texting, or games at any time.
Students can use the magnet system to leave for the washroom, to refill their water bottles, or go on a walk break. Only one student can be out of the classroom at any given time, unless a staff member has given them permission to do otherwise.
School Cash Online payments are preferred, no money or cheques should be brought to school.
Routines:
Announcements will be played during the first block every morning. Students will practice their cursive writing/spelling upon entering the classroom and pause for announcements and the playing of our national anthem. Any students that choose to not stand for the national anthem for religious reasons are welcome to either sit at their desk or wait in the hallway.
Royal Roads Public School (RRPS) is on a balanced day. Attendance is taken at the beginning of all three blocks. Handwashing or sanitizing is encouraged after going to the washroom, as well as before and after eating.
Supervision Schedules (including the Inclement Weather schedule) can be found on our Class Info board or at the top of my electronic Daybook (which will be e-mailed to you and through a shared Google Drive folder).
Additional Information:
Please refer to your e-mail and check for a shared Google Drive folder for a copy of my Daybook, and speak to someone in the office regarding student information, medical information, safety plans, IEPs, emergency code procedures, fire/tornado drill procedures, and class lists.
