Grade 9 Visual Arts encourages students to develop their skills in producing and presenting art by introducing them to new ideas, materials, and processes for artistic exploration and experimentation. Throughout this course, students will apply various Elements and Principles of Design and explore the various disciplines of drawing, painting, sculpting and printmaking. Studio techniques and applications are taught and practiced and further enhanced through art history; specifically Paleolithic, Egyptian Art, the Group of Seven, Keith Haring, Georgia O’Keeffe, and Dale Chihuly to name a few. They will also learn to critically reflect on and interpret art within personal, contemporary, and historical contexts.

Practical exam should be a demonstration of knowledge gained throughout the semester. No new medium or skills should be introduced in the final project or reflection writing. The form of testing should be familiar to the students, a similar format to what has been done in class.
