This course will engage students with contemporary sculpture and ceramic practices and facilitate the development of their own practice. Students will be introduced to a variety of materials such as clay, plaster, metal, plastics and found materials to produce art works in relief and in the round. Students will learn how to incorporate the creative process as well as the elements and principles of design to create original work. Students will be introduced to the history of twentieth century sculptural practices through art history lessons, class discussions and oral and written critiques.

Practical exam should be a demonstration of knowledge gained throughout the semester. No new medium or skills should be introduced in the final project or reflection writing. The form of testing should be familiar to the students, a similar format to what has been done in class.
