We will be departing the Phys. Plant at 12:45 PM Tues. 10/24 to drive to Pathways Retreat on the N. edge of Goshen to observe their restoration activities. Prior to returning to campus, we will stop by a nearby neighbor to see native plant community restoration at a residential scale.
Prior to this lab, you should read the document posted on the 10/24 lab Moodle page. about Ecological Restoration at Pathways
Steve,
I am confirming the restoration ecology class will arrive at 1 pm to Pathways in a GC mini-bus on Tues. Oct. 24th. There will be a total of 12 of us. The students will have been asked to read Restoration in Progress at Pathways Retreat prior to this visit.
I will introduce you and then turn it over to you to give a "tour" of the types of projects that are supported by that document.
For your awareness, the students will be asked to report in their field notebooks what they heard regarding these two (among other) questions.......
1. What were the particular social (even theological) commitments that served to guide the landowners' goals/visions for their land?
2. Who were/are the landowners' partners in their projects?
As you share about your projects my role is to ask clarifying questions of you, and other questions/connections that will relate to the theories/concepts they have been exposed to during the lecture portion of the class.
I have arranged to have the group tour Roger Z's project at 3 pm. Some in the group may need to use a restroom prior to our departure (maybe out by the cottage).
