In this unit you will draw on all the skills you have developed in your first school computing experiences and any experiences you have of technology at home. By the end of this unit you will be able to:
Understand how to use your chromebook
Know how to look after your device
develop your skills in using the G-Suite of tools
Understand how to use your device safely, especially when online
Understand that your device is monitored to keep you safe
Be able to choose the right tools for a given task
Navigate around your G-Drive
Share documents and work collaboratively
Create and update your expedition portfolio

These are life skills. You need these skills not just for lessons but in virtually every job you will do when you are older and definetly throughout the rest of your education!

Basic Chromebook navigation and safe use (being safe online).
Understanding what G Suite is and its benefits.
Familiarizing students with different G Suite tools (Gmail, Google Docs, Google Slides, Google Sheets, Google Drive, etc.).
Editing and sharing your Expedition portfolio
Emerging:

I know how to send an email correctly and how to manage my inbox. I can independently use the G-Suite of apps and I am able to work collaboratively with others. I am able to import multi-media into my work (eg: YouTube video into a Google Slide). I know that I should not share any personal information online. I am confident in using voice to text and Helperbird and I can work more independently on my Expedition Portfolio. I know how to organise my G-Drive and how to access work I have created. I can upload work to Google Classrooms and I can search for information online effectively.
Greater Depth:
Mastery plus - I can independently select the correct app for a given task or piece of work I am doing. I can voice record using Vocaroo, download the file and then embed it in a document (eg: Slides). I demonstrate creativity and independence in my work, particularly when working on my Expedition.
