DID YOU KNOW? Some Myths & Facts...
MYTH: If I'm not in the top 10% I can't go to college.
FACT: Anyone can go to college. You might not get accepted to all of the schools but you can go to college. You may need to start at a smaller school and then transfer with better grades. Lots of schools accept students that aren't Top 10% or 25%.
MYTH: I can't afford to go to college.
FACT: There are schools that you can go to for FREE if your parents income is under a certain amount. See the list above (in the blue section). For most school it's an income less than $40,000 a year.
FACT: You can also qualify for grants and scholarships (all money you don't have to pay back) or student loans (money you do have to pay back.
Automatic admission is a practice that guarantees college acceptance to students who meet certain requirements regarding grades, class rank, and test scores. The Top 10% Rule requires public universities in Texas to admit all Lone Star students who graduate in the top 10% of their high school classes. (Note that UT Austin is an exception to the rule).

Students from a family with a household income of $40,000-$80,000 or less qualifies for free college in Texas. - Must be eligible for full Pell Grant. - Must be a dependent student (per FAFSA) and eligible for Texas in-state tuition. - Must complete FAFSA or TASFA. Scholarship is available for up to four years. Go to the colleges website to find out all of the details.
