Block out the 10 hours per week that PCC recommends for this class. PCC's guidelines are that we would spend 4 hours per week in the classroom, and 6 hours on home work (2 hours x 3 units).

Because this is an online class, the textbook is used extensively and followed very closely. Page numbers are referred to often. There ARE differences in the older editions.
Among the changes in the new 2021 7th edition of the book, there are FOUR (4) new chapters. the previous 6th edition had 20 chapters. Older editions have even fewer chapters whereas latest 7th edition has 24 chapters.
So, if you get the old edition, know that you'll need to make friends or make a deal with someone who has the newer edition so that you can get any missing information. We will cover two chapters per week, and there will be several assignments and activities (Quizzes, discussions, vocabulary, fashion influence, etc.) in Canvas each week, that are associated with each chapter in the book.It is up to the individual to decide if they feel up to putting forth the extra effort that it takes to navigate the differences between the newer and older editions. For those who do decide to get an edition other than the latest, make arrangements to get regular access to the newer edition in order to reconcile the differences and to obtain any missing information.
I found some of the text on google books;
Hopefully, the link works for you, so you can get a head start on the reading.

Average Weekly schedule - Work is due by 11:00 pm on the same day of the week, every week - See our Canvas course for details
Read Chapter For each chapter, complete chapter quiz, assignment & discussion each week
Projects Timeline, History of Costume Illustrated Digital Vocabulary List, Fashion Influence
This is the average routine for all 16 weeks. A "project" is just an assignment that is not due the same week it is introduced, giving a little more time to go in a little more depth. One "project" involves researching a store, the next "project" builds on the first part, where, given what you know about the store, you identify an opportunity that store should take advantage of. The last project involves researching a career in the fashion industry.
Follow the calendar and due dates in Canvas. The calendar below is not connected to Canvas, but was set up to give you an idea of what to expect, before the terms starts, and before you can get into Canvas.
Please take a moment to update your user and notification settings. Do this by clicking "Account" on the left side of the Canvas site. In the submenu, click on "Settings" Make sure that the e-mail listed is the one that you plan to check every day. If it isn't add the one you prefer! You can also link your Cell phone, Facebook and Twitter accounts to get notifications.
To check and change the frequency of your notifications, while on the User Settings page, click on "Notifications" on the navigation bar to the left. You will see a table with your e-mail address(es) and any other accounts that you have registered listed across the top. The first column of the table is a list of all of the reasons why CANVAS might notify you. You can choose how frequently you would like to be notified (ASAP, Daily, Weekly, or Never) for each of the course activities listed. I'm going to suggest that you choose ASAP for things like Announcements and Grading. Here is link to a video that shows how to set up your preferences in Canvas https://youtu.be/39TyrX3nA-Y
