The tactile, hands on of Artmaking is about translating ideas, feelings and whims and making them manifest. This develops fine motor skills with learning how to see and express it. Learning about Art movements, styles of Art, and means of expression through Art History and Aesthetics, opens students to the collective mind and spirit of humanity. From the development of ideas and communicating ones truth, to growing our knowledge and working out problems, these are skills for a lifetime. Every discipline utilizes these, but Art is a very tangible and accessible forum for their discovery.
Making art is a series of applied decisions and physical interaction with a medium. This “process” is the essence of art, and is what I want to share. Well rounded thinkers and decision makers who are not afraid to express themselves is the goal.
