Mrs. Maile's

Art Classroom:

Hello and Welcome!

Please see what we have been up to here at Kaplan Career Academy.

Warm Weather means OUTDOOR Art Projects:

August 2020: "Mixed Media Collages"

While on our class "mask breaks", we collected some items from nature.

We then took these items and created "Mixed Media Collages" of what we found. We found some pretty interesting things while outside....

September 2020: Sidewalk Chalk Mandalas

In Arts & Crafts class, we learned about Mandalas. We took our new knowledge outside to do our own sidewalk chalk mandalas. After we finished our mandalas, we decided to decorate the front walk way of our school, for students and staff to enjoy.

October 2020:

A SPECIAL THANK YOU:

At the beginning of October 2020, Kaplan art students (both physically attending school and virtually attending school) were given a pumpkin to paint, decorate and keep. Many students shared that they had never had their own pumpkin before and were very excited to paint their pumpkins. Student planned out their designs and then went to work painting their pumpkins. The pumpkins were on display at school until the end of October/ beginning of November.

The pumpkins were a very generous donation from Mr. Glenn Baker. He donated enough pumpkins so that every student could have their own. We are incredibly thankful for this opportunity and sincerely appreciate Mr. Baker's generosity. Thank you!

A Note From Ms. Maile During "Quarantine"- MARCH 2020:

Hello Everyone!

I hope you are all safe and healthy during these very uncertain times. I am so pleased with how well all of you are adapting to our remote learning and digital classrooms! Please continue to look at art as an escape from whatever you are feeling during this quarantine time period. Art helps us all express our thoughts and feelings, while giving us a few moments to think and process. Art can be made from anything around you within your home and doesn't have to be made from the traditional and conventional methods. Please feel free to share with me any art you are making outside of "art class." I would love to see it and share it with our website viewers.

Please continue to be safe and well.

I miss all of you very much and miss creating art with you!
