How To Complete a Module

Modules are meant to be worked through as a team, although some do have pre-work that is meant to be done individually in advance. As a best practice, all GROW teams should be meeting weekly or bi-weekly to work through the modules and any other planning/logistics for your GROW experience.

We've learned that module discussions are more meaningful when someone serves as a facilitator. While it might make sense for the GROW coordinator to play this role for Module 1, we strongly encourage your team to rotate module facilitators from week to week.

For tips on cultivating a brave space for your team throughout these modules and your full GROW experience, please review GlobeMed's Brave Space and Facilitation Skills Guide.

Each module follows the process outlined in our GlobeMed Learning Pedagogy. Follow the instructions on each page as it walks you through these stages.

If at any point you or a GROW Team Member has any questions/concerns, please reach out to info@globemed.org so we can assist you!

EXPLORE

Each module will prompt you as a GROW Team Member to complete the Explore section. In some cases, you will complete this individually, while in other modules you will complete the section as a team.

Note: Some modules require the GROW Team Coordinator to prepare the learning materials for their own GROW team. Other modules require each GROW Team Member to prepare for the team meeting ahead. The module page will indicate which steps need to be taken and by whom-- just pay attention to the headers!

DISCERN

Once you have sufficiently explored the learning content of the Explore section, move on to the Discern section as a full GROW Team. This section will provide prompts and/or reflection questions to dig into as a group. Take as much time as you collectively need to have deep discussion. This will absolutely support your internship experiences!

ACT

Some modules contain an Act section. During these sections you, or your team, may be asked to do something in the moment that represents the learning & reflection work you completed.

Not every module contains an Act section. This is because majority of your action as a GROW Team Member will be completed during your GROW internship. It is highly encouraged during your internship to return to these modules and/or reflections when you feel inspired.

REFLECT

None of the modules on this site possess an isolated Reflect section, although reflection is interwoven and sometimes further prompted through interactive share-backs.

Module 10 titled Post-GROW Reflection is a module designed for you to reflect as a team upon completion of the internship, but ultimately, your personal reflections are yours.

If you would like to share your breakthroughs with your team or with other GROW interns this season, reach out to your chapter coach or any GlobeMed staff member! Also, be on the lookout for storytelling opportunities as this GROW training season continues.

GlobeMed Learning Pedagogy: Explore, Discern, Reflect, Act. Explore: What do we know? Seeking information, knowledge and learning inputs. Discern: What do we think and why? Making meaning of and connections between ideas.

What is a Resource Bank?

Each module contains a Resource Bank at the bottom of the page, and may contain GlobeMed created resources and/or external resources from other nonprofits and organizations we admire! These are not mandatory to click through and review, however, they will always be relevant to the module topic and may help you make a more meaningful internship experience.
