Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS) is designed for students to enjoy exploring their interests, developing new interests, and developing the attributes of the IB Learner Profile in real-world contexts through individual experiences and collaborative projects. When given proper attention and time, CAS is often the highlight of students’ DP journeys. While the requirements of CAS are more difficult to fulfil during the current pandemic, there are still many ways students can grow through this process. Each month, we will highlight the CAS experience(s) of a different GJS student.
This month, we have a double feature: Syahna Khalisa Sasyifa from 12 F and Hyun Woo Cho from 12 B!
Syahna is GJS School Captain and has been a member of Student Council since the year 2016. For 2020-2021, Syahna has been selected from hundreds of youth applicants throughout South-East Asia to serve as an ASEAN Youth Ambassador. As an ambassador, she will create positive sustainable change in her community, and deliver information about ASEAN to her community. Congratulations, Syahna!
The current global pandemic, and the lack of masks supply moved Hyun Woo to contribute to the community in Indonesia by producing masks. He did some research about the material needed and how to produce a mask to effectively filter unwanted airborne particulate matter, as well as viruses & other pathogens. Check out the pictures, which document Hyun Woo’s journey. Well done, Hyun Woo!
