Year 4 students conducted a science experiment to explore the concepts of solubility and insolubility. The goal of the activity was to help students understand how certain substances, which are art materials, dissolve in liquids such as water, vegetable oil, and condensed milk. This will help them in deciding which materials they are going to use in their art creation.
Students carefully listened to the instructions and asked insightful questions to ensure they understood and followed the experiment. The students took notes to record the observations and also to compare and contrast. Students were being enthusiastic. They gathered the materials required for the experiment, displaying enthusiasm and energy as they could not wait to do the hands-on activity and explore the world of solubility and insolubility. The students demonstrated thinking skills when predicting an experiment with other art materials as the substances.
The students actively engaged in the experiment. They observed the changes that occurred when substances were added to the liquids, fostering their understanding of solubility and insolubility. This hands-on activity not only provided an opportunity for students to apply scientific concepts but also encouraged collaboration, critical thinking, and creativity. The students thoroughly enjoyed the experiment and having a deeper understanding of solubility and insolubility in the world around them.
The students created art pieces that express emotions, ideas and culture.
First, they practiced the necessary techniques of their chosen art form to help them express their ideas more clearly.
Then, they created designs to help them think about what their finished piece will look like.
They were encouraged to use shape, colour, line, and contrast to express their ideas.

On April 11th and 12th, 2023, Year 4 went to Happy Land, Cibalung Bogor, for a camp. This camp was special because we haven’t done it since the pandemic.
The students came together to have fun and learn new things; they tried new adventures away from home in a safe environment.
In the camp, they did a lot of fun activities, such as team building games, cooking banana and casava chips, planting strawberry plants, hiking, and showing their talent in the talent show during the campfire gathering.
From the team building activity, the students learn to cooperate with each other. They also get the opportunity to interact with their peers. Doing activities together created a bond between them. It also enabled them to be more active by participating in various activities.
When hiking, the students got the opportunity to connect with nature. They observed nature and be aware of the natural world.
The students developed self-confidence, independence, and social skills from the camp.
