Reception celebrated the end of our How We Express Ourselves unit with an original play co-constructed with the students. The story of this drama was a combination of several stories students learned about in class. Students learned about these stories through the lens of technology, imaginative play, and building relationships through verbal and non-verbal communication. Collaborating with Kindergarten, our performers kept the audience in suspense and made our guests laugh while enjoying the Fairytale show. Our students showed commitment and enthusiasm from beginning to end and further developed their communication and social skills. In this assembly, students learned to express themselves in many ways, and Kindergarten applied their knowledge of habitats to our story’s settings.
The Reception Moving Forward Ceremony became a collaborative year-level tradition in 2022 involving Reception parents. This year our wonderful parents played a more significant role in preparation and ideas so that this joyful event could be carried out successfully. Students showcased their unique abilities while entertaining teachers, family members, and Leadership. They recited poetry about their teachers, played musical instruments, sang, and danced while wearing amazing space outfits designed and created by one of our parents. At the end of the event, teachers gave students special certificates, and the children enjoyed lunch and photo opportunities in front of the beautiful space-themed props and decorations with their families.
