Book making

For this brief, I experimented with making different kinds of books with different techniques and different kinds of paper. I followed these youtube tutorials to learn how to make most of them -

First, I made this very basic 8 page book out of one piece of paper.

I made this concertina book which opens up in different directions.

I made a worksheet including a few sketches of the books and ideas for a final piece.

FINAL PIECE (S)

For the final piece of this brief, I decided to make a trilogy of small flutter books, all containing different themes and illustrations by me, all inspires by different artists ( James Rosenquist, Keith Haring, Hatch show print).

JAMES ROSENQUIST.

This is the the James Rosenquist book, where I have made small versions of his big paintings with watercolours and gouache.

KEITH HARING / ITS A SIN.

This is a book I made inspired by the art of Keith Haring. I recently watched a tv show called its a sin on channel 4, which really touched me, so I decided to combine the artworks of Keith Haring, recreated by me in the book, with my own illustrations of characters and moments from the show, as well as also including pictures in the back from the Aids memorial instagram page, which pays tribute to those who lost their lives, and continue to do so to HIV and Aids.

HATCH SHOW PRINT/ COUNTRY MUSIC HALL OF FAME AND MUSEUM.

In this book, I took inspiration from videos I recently watched about the Nashville printing company 'Hatch show print' and a video of a tour of the country music hall of fame and museum in Nashville. In this book, I combined the works of the company, which I have recreated, with my own illustrations of iconic country musicians which have been honoured in the museum.

I have made this flip through video of the book, with help from my Mum ,who is flipping the pages, containing music by all the country music artists I have included.
