This week, we are learning a song in Mandarin to say happy birthday to the Confucius institute. This is our Mandarin teacher Mr Yu singing the song and showing us the actions. Make sure you know it by Mandarin time on Monday!!!

(Students, make sure you are using your school account to view this as that is the only way the sharing permissions will let you!)

WALT count to 10 in Mandarin

Today we learned how to count to 10 in Mandarin! We learned a catchy song and also how we can use one hand to express numbers from 0 - 10!

WALT: Play traditional Chinese games

WALT: Introduce ourselves using Mandarin Chinese

Today in Mandarin class, we learned two new songs. One was about greeting others/introducing ourselves using Mandarin Chinese and the other was about communicating our nationality/which country we were born in. Watch the videos below but beware, they're very catchy and will be stuck in your head for the rest of the day!

WALT: Create dialog using Mandarin Chinese

This week in Mandarin, we learnt about greeting one another as well as asking 'have you eaten', which our Mandarin teacher taught us is a common question to ask in Chinese culture, when greeting one another. We also learnt how to respond to this question. Here are some pictures of us having a go! You can see the dialog on the whiteboard in the background - it would be awesome if we could practice this at home!

Te Reo Maori

WALT: use Te Reo Maori to communicate about personal information, such as name, parents, and grandparents names, iwi, mountain, river, hometown, etc.

Our focus for Te Reo has been writing our own pepeha, which communicates to other people, information about where we are from and who we are. Each of us has created our own pepeha - check out our personal blog pages, we're working on uploading our recording pepeha onto there for you to see!
