HOSA is an international student organization dedicated to the expansion of the quality of health care and as well as to the promotion of health care industries. All the leaders and learners apart of HOSA are encouraged to venture out and help STEM organizations and facilities. Being apart of HOSA students can learn all what is necessary to be a quality health care professional. HOSA offers countless amount of opportunities for enrichment and practical applications, in the health care field, for all the students who seek them out.
Competition Events
One of the enrichment activities that HOSA offers are the Competitive Events. These events were created as a way for students to challenge themselves and increase their motivation. HOSA offers a vast number of Competitive Events, each regarding a different field of STEM, which allows students to find where they wish to increase their knowledge and experience. All the events that are offered aren't competition based. The ones that are competitive were not made to pin students against each other, but rather to create encouragement to expand one's knowledge and skill set.
These Competitive Events are one of the prides of the Gahanna-Lincoln's Bioscience Technology program. Each year every student take it upon themselves to be apart of HOSA's Competitive Events program. Each student has same ambition to advance to nationals and every year, at least some, students do so. Everyone feels the pressure to succeed and it can be difficult to deal with that, but with the support of every student and Mrs. Lewis the pressure is lifted.
While it is an honor to even be given the chance to go to nationals, the location also provides an intensive. In the past nationals have been held in Florida, Texas, and many more lovely place outside of Ohio. These trips give students a reward for making it as far as they did. They also creating bonding among the group, since they are all experiencing these events and location together. While these trips have been a highlight in years past, it is still uncertain whether nationals will be held this year, in person, or not due to Covid.
