Do you have a dream of becoming a scientist, engineer, doctor, or medical professional? If you answered yes to any of these, then Bioscience Technologies is the class for you! In this class you will explore the variety of fields that science has to offer. You will learn about genetics, food science, forensic science, and so much more! In this program you'll receive 4 high school science credits and 8 College Credit Plus credits!

Your first year, in this two year course, will focus on honing your laboratory skills and learning the basics of the class. In your second year you will be set off to create a Capstone research project tailored to your specific field of desire. In this project you will have a lot of creative freedom in what you research and how you chose to go about showing your research!

Bioscience is so much more than a class. You learn all what is needed to be the best health professional you can be. Even if you do not chose to pursue a health profession you are still certain to create wonderful memories and meet awesome new people!

How would you describe your experience in Bioscience?

"Bioscience was a fantastic experience and a great way to learn the hands-on aspects of biology and other laboratory sciences. Most, if not all, high school classes are primarily reading/lecture based and do not come close to offering the resources and one-on-one feedback while learning in the lab setting. The class material was very interesting and mostly new for me at the time so it was easy to remain engaged in learning. Additionally, the senior capstone project was a great way to tie together the skills and knowledge obtained throughout the two years of the course and present your findings to others!"

What skills from Bioscience carried over into college? Was there something you were already prepared for as a result of this class?

"I was so surprised how much it prepared me for my intro classes. Intro microbiology and the accompanying lab were both made far easier with both the prior knowledge of the subject and the experience of putting that knowledge to use. I continue to use the techniques learned in the bioscience program every day. My research includes transformations using plasmids, PCR, gel electrophoresis, bacterial culturing, and plenty of symposium style presentations. All of these things I was familiar with after graduating from the bioscience program. "

"Everything from basic cell culturing and pipetting, to PCR and plasmid mapping. You don't get nearly as much experience in Uni as you do in this class unless you go out and find it. It's something that helps me stand out to this day after graduating with my Bachelor's."

"If you love science and even have an idea that this is something you would be interested in for a career I say do it! I loved the class and it did help me realize during field trips that I did not want to work in a lab and that helped narrow job my college major options."
