English
The skill of Communication was demonstrated majorly in English as I had a Socratic Seminar. This allowed me to demonstrate this skill as we were set up in designated groups, allowing us to contribute and listen to our peers and communicating our ideas with one another as a discussion, while the teacher listens in, guiding us and assessing us based on our communication skills. This task was based around our class novel, which was Jasper Jones and having four questions which we needed to plan and analysis in order to discuss with our peers for assessment on providing sufficient evidence and linking ideas.
I was able to contribute my own ideas as well as linking onto my peer's ideas during this period. This is vital in maintaining the conversation as well as absorbing more information around the topic which we may not have been knowledgeable before the discussion. Additionally, not only did I perform my communication skill effectively orally, but I also conveyed it in written formals within every assignment from every subject that a written piece is needed, meaning that not only in English do I demonstrate this skill, but also Mathematics in the investigation, Science through practical reports etc.
Although I did not score as high in this task, as I had hoped to, it displays room for some improvements to be implemented in future tasks. However, the comments which I had received as feedback from my teacher were quite positive feedback, demonstrating the skill of effective communication to my peers as I "demonstrated quality active listening skills", "building on others contributions to the discussion".
