Collaboration is being able to work together in a group with others and maintaining a positive working environment to achieve common goals. This would look like taking responsibility to contribute to the group, participating in discussions and sharing ideas around. The official Glenunga rubric is presented on the right - ->
Science
Along with communication, the skill of collaboration is also quite closely linked to it and without one or the other, the skill would not be as effective. One example of this would be in Science, where we had a task where we needed to show our collaboration skills with our peers in order to create a product in the form of a journal with all our inputs and contributions into researching for the designated disease which our character in her scenario had as well as producing a video from the information that we had gathered. I worked with my friends, Josephine and Tanika to analysis our character, named Rachel Coney and through various hints given, for example, her doctor diagnosis, symptoms and hospital tests, we were able to have numerous possibilities as her disease and narrow them down along the way.
The document to the right is the task sheet and requirements for this task.
As a group, we were able to research different diseases and analyse the patient through the situations she was experiencing and narrowed it down to Hepatitis C, which we checked with Mr. Jones, our science teacher, who approved of it being the correct diagnosis. We then moved onto the video aspect, which enabled us to turn the diagnosis investigation into a short film. Through collaboration and effective communication as to our specific roles, Tanika was the director or videographer, Josephine and I were actors, we were able to produce a good film. All of the group members also collaborated well together to help in the script aspect of the film.
English
In term 3 of 2023, I was able to effectively collaborate, communicate and display creative & critical thinking with my peers in my English class in order to produce a film with my selected group members for our final assignment. Our task was to come up with a creative idea for a true crime parody trailer in groups, where I was placed with Xixi, Arya and Avani. I was able to contribute my ideas into the document which we used to provide numerous different prompts and idea generations for the rest of the group to build on, improve and ultimately deciding on one topic altogether.
On the right is the task sheet document.
We strongly needed the skill of communication to be able to decide which topic we were going with as it would have enabled us to narrow down our choices as well as giving a clear indication for the ideas which we weren't as fond with and collectively choosing one that would be easy to relate to the theme of a true crime parody trailer and one that we would all be comfortable and happy acting in.
Our idea was creating a true crime parody about missing shoes due to students having their uniforms going missing quite often during school and using true crime film techniques, such as, evidence in newspapers, photos, maps, news reports, etc. Due to our collaboration, we were able to produce a film which effectively embedded our initial ideas into our final product.
