A New Year, A Fresh Start

It’s been a busy and exciting start to the school year! GH Lions PTA has been working hard behind the scenes to make things easier for families, volunteers, and school staff. From launching our new PTA website and Google Workspace to clarifying roles for smoother communication, we are inching closer to a more seamless experience for all.

Highlights of the Month

✏️ School Tool Box Success

• 75+ kits sold at Meet the Teacher night

• Parents praised the convenience and cost savings

• Next year: look for options to donate boxes to classrooms or for teachers to post grade-level wish lists
  
  

👕 Uniforms & Spirit Wear

Our volunteers learned a brand-new ordering system while balancing jobs and family life — and still fulfilled orders with a smile. Thank you for helping our Lions look sharp!

🐾 Membership Momentum

• 375 members and counting — already 72 more than this time last year!
  
  

• Themed weeks:
  
  

  • 100 Dads Challenge → 120 dads/father figures signed up

  • Membership is Sweet week → fun giveaways + candy

  • Everyone is PTA week → still ongoing!

📚 Afterschool Enrichment

We heard you! Thanks to parent interest, we worked with a community partner to bring RSM math afterschool right here at Greathouse.

Upcoming Events & Programs

📅 Sept 4 – Chuck E. Cheese Community Night
Look for their Chuck mouse in our car rider lines. Bring the family for pizza, games, and fun. A portion of sales supports GH Lions PTA — just say Greathouse!

📅 Sept 5 – Reflections Virtual Kickoff
This year’s theme: “I Belong …”. Students can submit work in art, dance, writing, photography, music, or film. Learn how to enter, what judges look for, and where winners advance. Special guest: Bobbi Jo, District PTA President.

📅 Sept 6 – Pops in the Park (Kindergarten)
Popsicles + playtime with teachers in a relaxed setting. Great way to connect with other parents. (Parents note: Save academic questions for Open House, Sept 18 or Conferences, Sept 24.)

📅 Sept 12 – Math in Action Goes Live
Hands-on activities to make math fun and confidence-building!

📅 Sept 18 – Open House
Visit classrooms, meet teachers, and learn about expectations for the year.

📅 Sept 24 – Parent-Teacher Conferences
Sit down with teachers, review progress, and set goals.

📅 Sept 14 – Membership Drive Ends
Help us reach our 1 member per student goal!

📅 Sept 23 – KY Kids Day Donut Celebration + Skate Party

• 🍩 Sweet at School: Donuts for every student to celebrate Kentucky Kids Day and our membership milestone.
  
  

• ✨🛼 Evening at Champs Rollerdome: Our first skate night of the year! Theme: Glow & Go
  
  

📅 Late October – Fall Festival (Details Coming Soon)

Your memberships, donations, and community night participation fuel programs like:

• Family Events – $2,000

• Beautification – $3,000

• Student Recognition/Brag Tags – $4,000

Every dollar is carefully managed according to KY PTA and Redbook guidelines— and spent to enrich students first.
