You'll Learn Valuable Skills...

Pupils will study a wide range of topics stretching from 1200 to the modern day. This will include a period study on Elizabeth I, a depth study of Nazi Germany, a 900 year study of change and continuity in Britain, and a detailed period study on America.

The study of History will help pupils to develop an ability to think logically, to think as individuals and to express what they know and understand clearly. The content is both exciting and contemporary and helps pupils to make sense of the world they live in today.  

The department uses a variety of teaching methods and resources including computer simulations, music, Google Slides presentations and original film footage to enhance pupils’ learning about the events being studied. There will be an opportunity for pupils to take part in a variety of trips.

Is this course right for me?

You can expect your teachers to have high expectations of you. History is a challenging course that requires significant knowledge. You will be expected to work hard in lessons and independently at home. There is a high quantity of written work, both in lessons and at home as the exams are essay based. 

You will be working with a wide range of historical sources and there will be lots of different activities in lessons!

History is open and accessible to all pupils. We would expect anyone who studies History to have a love for:

        Visiting historical sites

        Learning about historical events and people who have influenced our world

        Reading

        Writing - Pupils will work towards producing extended essay style answers to exam questions.

What can this lead to?

This course is ideal if you are interested in further study in History such as the A Level History or A Level Ancient History courses.
