Your Course

Studying Art is a way of seeing things and making sense of the world around you, exploring ideas, experiences and responding to a theme of personal significance. The areas of study are very broad and cover drawing, painting, sculpture, mixed media, printmaking anf digital media.

Assessment

Assessment covers four key areas;

●      Artist Research

●      Development of Ideas

●      Recording Images (Drawing and annotation)

●      Final Outcome.

Pupil’s work is assessed through a combination of an examination externally set task (40%) and a portfolio (60%).  All work is internally assessed and externally checked and moderated by the exam board.

Is this course right for me?

Pupils should have a keen interest in the visual world and have a passion for creating their own images and art objects.

Increasingly pupils and students have found ways to combine media in exciting and stimulating ways as a way of responding to the contemporary art world and the multimedia environment in which they live.

Underpinning all of the studies is an expectation that drawing and annotation will be used to record ideas.

What can this lead to?

1.     A Level Art and Design courses.

2.     Vocational Art and Design courses at college.

3.     Leading to Art and Design degree courses at University.

4.     Vast range of careers in the creative industries ranging from, Fashion, Design, Architecture, Interior Design, Film and TV, Fine Art, Illustration,  Teaching, Conservation, Games design and Set design etc.
