Who: 5th – 8th graders of all skiing abilities
Classic Ski Equipment: Skiers must have classic ski equipment (registration includes the option to rent equipment for the season, but only youth sizes are available and quantities are limited). You may not use skate skis. See the Equipment & Attire page for more information about equipment and Equipment Rental for size limits for rental ski equipment.
Trail Pass: Skiers ages 13 and older must have a trail pass to ski at Como and Battle Creek. The cost for the joint City of St. Paul and Ramsey County "All-Access Pass" for skiers on school Nordic ski teams is $40.
Transportation: Families must provide transportation to practice at Battle Creek. It is expected that families help each other out with carpooling. Transportation is the main barrier for some students to participate, particularly those who would otherwise be at Kinderclub. Volunteering to give other skiers rides to practice makes participation on the Nordic ski team more accessible.
Skier Commitment:
If a new or beginner-level skier, attend all days of Ski Camp in December
Regularly attend practice
Attend at least three races
Have properly fitting classic ski equipment and appropriate Nordic ski clothing
Be willing to brave the elements. We routinely ski in temperatures in the negative digits.
Communicate with Coach Kirsten regarding absences, injuries or other concerns.
The Nordic ski program at TCGIS has accomplished a lot with very little, but we need your help! In order to offer a fun and rewarding season of skiing, racing and personal growth for our TCGIS middle school skiers, we ask families to volunteer a minimum number of hours during the season. Please read more about the volunteer requirement.
Team Jacket Rental Form (coming soon)
$200 season fee (payable to TCGIS at time of registration)
$60 equipment rental fee, for those renting from the Minnesota Youth Ski League (payable to MyXC)
$40 season trail pass fee for skiers ages 13 and older (payable to the City of St. Paul)
Registration will take place in Infinite Campus between October 1 - 15, 2025. Email Coach Kirsten at kpartenheimer@germanschool-mn.org with any questions.
Reserving rental equipment will be a separate process facilitated by Coach Kirsten. She will email all registered skiers to find out who needs equipment. Equipment is available first-come, first-serve and based on the order in which you registered. Please be prepared with your student's height, weight and shoe size in European sizes.
Finances should not be a factor in deciding to participate on a TCGIS sports team. If finances are a concern, please contact Chris Tabisz, Athletic Director, BEFORE registration opens because TCGIS' season fee for Nordic skiing is required at the time of registration.
