Saturday, April 22nd, senior Thea Islam travelled to UTSA to compete in the regional UIL Academic tournament in both Editorial Writing and Headline Writing. She placed third in Editorial writing, earning a spot in the UIL State competition at UT Austin on May 17th.
The state competition is on the same day and at the same time as a major IB exam that is immovable.
On March 23rd, Senior Thea Islam placed 2nd in both Editorial Writing and Headline Writing and will be competing at regionals in San Antonio April 22nd. Senior Thea Islam also took 6th place in Copy Editing. Junior Raine Uma Rane placed 4th in Editorial Writing. Thea Islam moves on to the Regional tournament in San Antonio on April 22nd.
Seven yearbook and newspaper students travelled to St. Louis on November 10th to attend the JEA/NSPA convention. They learned design skills, leadership skills, writing skills, photography, and the First Amendment's importance from college professors, professional journalists, and other yearbook and newspaper advisers. They also toured the aquarium and the Gateway Arch state park.
