Staff members of Legacy shall agree to the following:
Treat EVERYONE with Respect. This includes other teachers and students in the school, just as much as within our newsroom. It is important to maintain good relationships with people across the school, so that we aren’t denied interviews or removed from classes when we need photos taken. You are held to a higher standard than any group on campus because you’re the most visible.
No relationships WITHIN the yearbook staff or classroom. No drama allowed, no dating within the yearbook staff, and do not bring your significant other to our classroom. Just like you should never date someone you work with, do not date someone on yearbook or broadcasting staff. It’s not productive or professional.
Honor your Press Credentials. You will receive a press pass with your photo and name on it. This is an important ID and it will allow you entry into events when you are covering them for the yearbook. It is equally important to ONLY use your press pass when you are covering the event. If someone uses their press pass for reasons other than as a reporter, it harms the whole staff and prevents us from attending events.
Enjoy Snacks But Be Mindful of Equipment. We keep a pantry of snacks for yearbook, newspaper, and broadcasting staff. The pantry stays locked so the snacks are exclusive to staff members. While you are allowed to eat and drink in class, please DO NOT keep food or drinks near the computers or near cameras and other equipment. One spilled water bottle could ruin your computer.
Always Take Good Care of Equipment. Cameras should always be in cases or set in the middle of a table. Camera straps should be used every time you take a camera out of the bag. Lenses shatter when dropped, please be extremely careful and mindful of them at all times. Always sign out cameras before you leave the room with them.
Leave Phones on the Charger. During class, all phones should be in the holder at the front of the room. Feel free to plug them in if you need to, but leave the phone there. All staff members will keep their phones in the holder. Attendance will be taken based on whose phone is in the designated spot.
Attend After School. We meet every Monday after school. It is a grade. You can make up the time before school or after school any other day of the week if needed, but you have to check in with your editors first. Completing the yearbook requires a lot of time in and out of class. Many events occur after school, sometimes on campus and sometimes off campus. You will need to attend some events outside of school in order to complete pages. Find someone who drives (well), become their best friend, attend after school events, and get pages done.
