Content Policies
Section guidelines: We use a traditional chronological yearbook design, which puts each week of the school year on one spread, mixing sports, club events, academics, and such all on the same spread.
Summer: Summer coverage includes student, sport, and club activities that occur between May and September. Many photos for this section will be acquired directly from the clubs, sports teams, or students. When there is an event over the summer that yearbook staff can attend, that staff member will check out a camera from the adviser and return it after the event is complete.
Fall: Fall coverage begins late in September and ends in December. Fall includes homecoming, fall sports, pep rallies, school spirit, academic classes, and fall events.
Winter: Winter coverage begins late in December and ends in March. Winter includes holiday events, winter sports, clubs, some academic classes, and winter events.
Spring: Spring coverage is a little different, since the book has to be completed by March. Spring coverage covers baseball, softball, track & field, Spring Show, and other academic classes, regardless of what time frame those games or events occur. Prom and graduation are not covered in our book because they occur after the final deadline for print.
Reference: The reference section includes all student and staff portraits, clubs, teams, senior ads, index, colophon, and the closing. Season scores should be posted by the team photos. Senior ads are sold to parents of seniors and the final deadline for purchase is February 15th.
Death Policy: Should a student or school personnel pass away at any time during the current coverage period, the staff will treat the death in a professional manner. The yearbook will acknowledge the death by running a colored bar over the name next to the portrait and printing the years of birth and death. In the event that a school portrait is unavailable, family members will be contacted for an appropriate photograph that will appear in the index with the same treatment as a school portrait. During what would have been the student’s senior year, the family will be contacted about a memorial page in the senior ad pages at no charge. If the deceased was previously photographed and included on another page, that page will remain the same. The only portion of the book that will change is next to the name by the school portrait of the individual. If a memorial is held, it will be covered if it occurs during the active coverage time period (August - February) if there is space in the page ladder.
