The electoral systems in the MENA provide us with a background and conceptual framework on how to analyze the comparative perspectives of different electoral systems within the MENA region while examining the major electoral activities developments and the democratic tendencies within those states and their challenging electoral systems. The course allows us to ask and answer the following questions, how the electoral system is affected by regime change and political systems, do new electoral rules and elective chambers mean the MENA region is gradually becoming democratic, what the democratic activities practiced by authoritarian regimes, and to what extent these practices are a result of international and regional media pressures, the international community, and local political associations or international organizations.
