What can we say? This is been an incredible year of big personalities, loud laughs, forever friendships, and new experiences. We have had a fabulous week, from splish splash day, to celebrating birthdays, to our class party. We love seeing the passion for writing and reading in the numerous cards and stories made this week.
To our fabulous KG1A children, Ms. Mildred and I have loved teaching you. We admire your passion and creativity and wish you the best of luck as you embark on your KG2 adventure.
To our fabulous families, thank you for always being so warm and wonderful. We appreciate your support and encoragement throughout the year.
Have a rest-filled, exciting summer vacation. Please pop by and say hi.
GOOD BYE KG1
Another wonderful week passes us by. This week we had fun creating our own environment book and added our own pictures. We draw a picture of our teacher in Art to say thank you for the year. Most importantly we went to the KG2A classroom to experience a taste of KG2. We went on a hunt to look for resources that are the same as in KG1, we decorated a cubby label and read a story about moving to the next year group. We had an amazing time and feel very ready to step up to KG2.
The transient nature of international schooling is becoming apparent, some children packing their homes and some already left for Summer vacation. With this in mind, we are very sensitive to their needs and emotions at the moment. We ask that you let us know if anything significant is happening at home, in order to continue supporting them as best we can.
Key Events:
Splish Splash Spirit Day - Tuesday, June 28th 8:15 am (please arrive at school on time dressed in your swimming attire with a change of clothes for after)
Last Day of School and End of Year Party - 1st July (pick-up at 11:30)
Have a beautiful weekend!
We had a wonderful trip to the Green Planet, learning all about the rainforest and the living things within the rainforest. We saw lemurs, parrots, and lots of bugs. Some of us were brave enough to hold the hissing cockroach. We reflected on our favorite part of the trip and almost everyone said seeing the animals. On Tuesday, we visited the book fair and enjoyed looking at all the storybooks on sale. The next day we created our own book fair in our classroom using all our books. It is great to see the connections they are making every day. It is a clear indication of the readiness for KG2.
Next week we have 'Step-Up' day. On 'Step-Up' day, KG1A will stay as a whole class and visit the KG2A classroom and speak to the teacher. They will see what kind of things they learn about in KG2, the classroom furniture, and layout, as well as the KG2 resources. It is not an indication of who will be in their class next year, or who will be their teacher. As you can imagine this is a work in progress and we do not have that information yet. I have added more information to the upcoming key events below.
Key Events:
LAST swimming day - Monday 20th June
Step-Up Day - Thursday 23rd June @8:15 (please arrive to school on time)
Splish Splash Spirit Day - Tuesday June 28th 8:15am (please arrive to school on time)

Have a beautiful weekend!
Words cannot describe how wonderful it was for us to perform for our parents. The atmosphere was electric and the joy was felt throughout the day. We simply loved singing and dancing for you all. For Arts week, we went to the dance studio to show off our dance moves, painted different animals with Ms. Mildred, and explored different mediums with Ms. Emma. It has truly been a fun and exciting week. We completed our project inspired by 'Somebody Swallowed Stanley'. Firstly, we listened to the story again to provoke our ideas, secondly, we planned what we were going to create, thirdly, we created our pieces and finally, we shared them with our fellow classmates. It was incredible to see the ideas and execution of the project.
Please note there will NOT be swimming on Monday as we will be away at The Green Planet for our field trip. We are looking forward to this experience to bring our 'Sharing the Planet' unit to a close.
Below you will find some reminders of key events coming up in the next three weeks.
Key Events:
Trip to Green Planet - Monday 13th June
Book Fair - Week of the 13th June (KG1A time to be decided)
Step-Up Day (students visit KG2 for short time) - to be confirmed
Last Day of School - 1st July
That is all for now. Looking forward to seeing the kids on Monday for our wonderful trip to Green Planet.
Spring Concert Fun
Step 1. Inspiration
Step 2. Plan
Step 3. Create
Step 4. Share
It is hard to believe that we have entered the month of June. We celebrated our birthday girls and had almost everyone back in the classroom. We began discussing actions that we could take to make a positive impact on our environment, we re-used paper from the print room and picked up trash in the classroom. We are working hard in our writing pieces, we added letter strings or words to give our work more detail. We loved reading the book "Somebody Swallowed Stanley" and are looking forward to a mini-project next week, where we will create something out of a used plastic bag. We are so looking forward to showing you our singing voices in the Spring concert on Wednesday.
