It has been another very busy week to end our learning for this term. Our writing piece was about the person we care the most about: Our Mamas. The things each child shared were very special to listen to. We were completing our unit by creating books and playing with loose parts. We certainly have grown in our ability to extend our imaginative play with this unit. We visited the Gr 5's to congratulate them on their exhibition, it was exciting to see what lies ahead for us. Finally, our carpets returned to the classroom. It is great to have somewhere soft to sit, play, and listen to stories.
Ms. Mildred and I wish you and your families a wonderful Spring break filled with relaxation or adventure. We are looking forward to the final term of KG1.
What a fantastic and busy week it has been. We went on our first field trip to EXPO 2020, and it was simply the best. Even though it was hot the children enjoyed their ride on the bus, their walk through the Australian and Russian pavilions, and eating their packed lunch at Expo. More photos plus the video can be found here. With the guidance of the Gr 5 students, we created different pieces of art using paints or crayons, or building materials. It was a great experience working within a group to collaboratively create a piece of art. We have been looking into using the app STOP motion after reading Rosie's walk. This is something we will continue and perfect next week too.
This week we enjoyed screen-free life. Two years of learning in a different separated way came to an end. The delight on their faces was like nothing I have seen in a long while. The excitement is next level and now we navigate our new room and playing with everyone. We had a busy week learning about characters in a story, we spoke about who are our favorite characters and why we like them. We focused on using positional language in our play situations after reading the story "Rosie's Walk". We celebrated birthdays and have begun exploring our perspectives on pieces of art.
We are looking forward to our trip to Expo on Wednesday.
Happy Birthday Klea (7th) and Ibrahim (2nd)
This week has been an exciting week in the world of KG 1A, we began the week with our first swimming lesson at school. The independence of changing themselves was impressive. We ventured to the green screen room to practice for our assembly. We hope you enjoyed watching our assembly. We celebrated GIS LIT FEST with all things Elmer, we had the best time dressing up as Elmer on Thursday. Our imaginations are so vivid at the moment. Our creations and drawings are filled with fun ideas. We are understanding patterns and applying our knowledge in our play. We wrote about which animal we would like to be cheetahs and lions were among the many options chosen. We are loving inquiring into our imaginations.
Looking forward, we have a trip on March 16th to Expo with the rest of KG1. Letters have been sent home in children's bags so please check there. We require the permission slip returned fully completed and returned in time in order for your child to be able to go on the trip. If you have any questions or queries, please get in touch.
