All about Vehicle Pollution Certificate (PUC)

•The number of vehicles has increased exponentially, and they are causing maximum pollution which is also rising globally.

•According to the IRDAI, it is mandatory that you have a valid PUC certificate to renew your motor insurance policy.

Why PUC Certificate is required?
•A PUC certificate is required and authorizes you to use the vehicle legally on the road.
•PUC Certificate confirms the percentage of carbon emission, that is, the amount of pollution your vehicle may produce.
Is it Mandatory to have a PUC Certificate?
•Having a PUC Certificate is required by the Government of India by the Motor Vehicle Act of 1988.
•If your vehicle does not have a valid certificate, you will be fined Rs. 1000 for the first offence (and Rs. 2000 for every subsequent offence)
•So, a PUC certificate is a very important document and it is best that you should carry at all times when you are driving your vehicle.
All vehicles that are tested for PUC should fall within the following limits.

What are the benefits of having a PUC Certificate?
1.You will be caring for the environment - Air pollution can have a devastating impact on the global environment has, so by ensuring that your vehicle emissions are within the required levels you’ll be helping keep the environment clean.
2.Be aware of your vehicle’s condition - When you regularly renew your PUC certificate every 6 months, you’ll become aware of the pollution levels of your vehicle and if it needs servicing, so that you can get it checked before it becomes a larger problem.
3.Ensuring that you’re a law-abiding citizen - Having a PUC Certificate is required by the Government of India by the Motor Vehicle Act of 1988, and not having one can lead to possible penalties.
4.It is essential for any Motor Vehicle Insurance - A valid PUC Certificate is one of the mandatory documents that you must have to renew your vehicle insurance.
