Environmental JusticeĀ

Environmental justice is a social movement to address the unfair exposure of poor and marginalized communities to harms from hazardous waste, resource extraction, and other land uses. During the summer we will be exploring issues related to historic contamination in the communities abutting the Anacostia River, green gentrification, climate migration, and evaluating our own exposure to chemical contaminants. The EJ tracks spends a majority of its time outdoors exploring DC while also talking to local and national policy makers, non governmental organizations, green financiers and oil lobbyists, indigenous partners, and experts in the fields of environmental health and justice. Fellows will design a meaningful action project that touches on issues related to environmental justice.
