The Hornet Buzz
The Hornet Buzz is all about writing and creating an e-magazine. This is a club where you improve your writing so it can be understandable and is well developed in many categories. They write the newspaper and there are three sections. Each run a part of it.
Battle of the Books
Battle of Books is a club where students compete against each other with their knowledge of certain books. The students have to read many chosen books and are asked questions about them during competitions. It is extremely competitive because there are a lot of students.
Chess Club
Chess Club is a club where you learn all about chess. In this club you play games of chess with your friends and other people in the club to enhance your skill level. Chess club is not only for those who like to play chess but also for those who want to learn or challenge their brain by playing this complex game. Tournaments are held every once in a while.
Debate Club
Debate Club is a club where you improve your public speaking skills. There are many events students can compete in. Every year, students compete against other schools and if they do well, they can be invited to go to a state competition. This club participates in many competitions including National Speech and Debate competition.
Vespa Strings
In Vespa Strings, players play fiddle tunes, jazz, and pop music with Dr. Blanton. They learn to play music Dr. Blanton has arranged and improved playing rhythms, double stops, slurs, faster notes, and more. In this club, you can play many genres of songs such as fiddle tunes and pop songs.
First Lego League
FLL is a competitive robotics club that stands for First Lego League. In this club, children make and code a robot to complete missions on a map. Club members must use innovation, find out the impact our research has, include our teammates, work together well, and have fun throughout the season.
Quiz Bowl
Quiz Bowl is a club where you answer questions on different topics This club is also very competitive. Usually, the quicker you answer questions the more points you get.
Math Club
Math Club is a club based on being able to solve difficult math problems efficiently and creatively. The topics covered during class can be applied to school math, and a lot of students have found that math club has helped them in being able to solve hard math problems in a variety of ways. Math club is for those who wish to increase their math skills and become more engaged in math competitions.
Jazz Band
Jazz Band is where students learn to play jazz music by Mr Parnell; it's also our most advanced band at this school. They go to festivals like the jazz festival to show off what they learned. They learn how to improve their playing and the skills needed for their instruments.
Pep Band
The Pep Band is sponsored by Mr. Parnell. The Pep Band consists of drumline and wind instruments. They perform during band performances and occasionally go to other places to showcase their music.
Future City
A competition-based club for aspiring engineers, designers, and architects. Future City exists to encourage students to think critically about what it will take to create a sustainable city in the future. Students will utilize the theme provided for the year to design their own city and then compete against teams from across the state, and potentially nationally.
Design Club
The Design Club is a creative space where students use art and design to support our school community. From posters and event promotions to school-wide art projects, members collaborate through visual expression. The club is not only about making art but also about building teamwork, leadership, and pride in our school. It’s a place for students of all skill levels to explore creativity and showcase their talents while making a positive impact.
Mock Trial
Mock trial club allows students to learn about the legal system through a rehearsed trial process. In a mock trial, students work in teams to analyze a hypothetical case, prepare a trial strategy, and act out every role in the trial. They may take on the role of attorneys or witnesses, and present their case in front of a panel of judges. We will work progressively through scripted trials first, then proceed to working through a mock trial only using evidence and deposition documents.
