Aviation Program
The Camden Youth Aviation Program provides Gateway with an after-school program for students interested in careers in aviation. Students will explore the physics behind flight with hands-on activities. Participants will be exposed to careers through field trips to areas involved with the aviation industry. Students that participate in the program will be building and flying Remote Controlled (RC) Planes.
Dues/Costs: $0.00
Trips: Aviation Program has visited Lockheed Martin, Aviation Museums, Leonardo Helicopter, Philadelphia Airport, including TRACON, Airborne Systems, and the Aviation Institute of Maintenance. Students building the RC Planes will fly them at Silent Fliers RC Club Airfield.
Goals: To explore careers that are related to Aviation. To complete the long-term project- build RC Planes. Currently, students are utilizing plans to verify measurements of plane parts and learning metal sheet skills such as cutting, drilling, bending, and fabricating raw metal pieces for the plane.
