This rubric is placed in the front of your Science Notebook. These are the expectations for your Science Notebooks throughout the year. Be sure to keep as close to the guidelines in the "Totally Awesome" column to make sure you have the best Science Notebook possible! :)

The first page directly next to the cover of our science notebook has our science About Me page glued in. This was working on in class the first week of school and can be completed at home as needed if it is not finished.
After flipping the page, our Science rubric is glued on the left hand side, while the right hand side is the beginning of our table of contents. On the first line, Date, Title, and Page # need to be written as subheadings.
As of 8.21.19, the table of contents should contain

Our third set of pages is our table of contents continued.
On our 4th set of pages, the Aiming for Success key is glued in on the left, while the Science Unifying Concept Questions is glued in on the right.
The Aiming for Success key is what we will used during each topic to check our growth.
On the left hand side of the 5th set of pages is our Science Tools pocket. We will be putting a baggie with reference cards in here later.
On the right page is our Matter and Energy divider. We have filled out the Aiming for Success portion and the goal for this topic on this page.
Directly behind the Matter and Energy divider is the Vocabulary pocket for the unit.
Our Water Fountain Fun left page was completed together in class. Students used their own words to answer the 3 questions at the bottom of the page.
Each group has their specific data filled in on their Water Fountain Fun bar graph.
This is the beginning of the our second graded section.
The right side of the page is our states of matter sort. After investigating and observing different samples of matter, students assigned them to specific categories. the samples were:
- dish soap
- air
- sand
- pencil grip
- craft stick
- rubber band
- paper clip
- bubble wrap
- cloth or fabric
The left side is where students wrote their justifications for how they were able to determine what state of matter each object fell into. We discussed these needing to be detailed, complete sentences, and have a good use of content vocabulary.
