Is my student ready to be promoted to the next grade?
Your student will be promoted to the next grade if both of the statements are true. Remember higher scores on STAAR, PSAT or in course work allow for Honors, MST or AP course opportunities.
Only Select 8th graders who meet the criteria will be invited to Summer Bridge. 2025 Summer School is reserved for students who need academic support to prepare for high school. There will be no summer school for current 6th-7th grade students.
What can show that my student is ready to be promoted?
If you missed more than 18 days for the year and did not turn in notes to have the absences EXCUSED, you will be at risk of being retained.
Remember that your Math, English & Reading, Science & History Semester 1 & 2 Scores must be 70% or higher. Passing STAAR could provide opportunity to show mastery and be promoted.
Approaches, Meets & Masters are considered passing scores at the State Standard. Students who also fail to meet Expected Progress are not able to use STAAR as proof of mastery for promotion.
