I was able to work with a first year teacher going through an alternative certification. She was having a difficult time making her class engaging for her students, and thus behavior management was out of control. Through coaching, modeling, observations, and feedback, we were able to practice more improved ways to create a calmer, safer classroom environment for student learning. Being able to implement basic technology integration, such as Classroom Screen, helped support this iniative.
This year, we collaborated with the Gifted and Talented department for the district to create a training to support a 6-hour update certification for educators.
As part of this, we designed the training around how to integrate technology into PBL projects through G/T called TPSP (Texas Performance Standards Project). By building knowledge on technology best practices, eductors were better prepared to meet the needs of G/T learners.
In partnership with the Personalized Learning department, I modeled coaching for elementary instructional reading coaches. Since studies have shown that coaching will benefit teachers, they wanted to see a coaching session through the Engage2Learn program that was “successful” to know what it could look like and what to do.
The Modeling Coaching for ELST Transcript demonstrates how I purposefully use language, pacing, guidance, and questions to guide the coaching conversations. Every intentional moment detailed to the I.C. that I was modeling for is highlighted in purple. This transcript was provided in conjuction with the video recording as well.
This year, I went to visit i3 (Innovation in Instruction) members around the district to check-in and celebrate them. i3 is a district-wide, educator-based program, that scaffolds 21st-century learning skills for educators.
For Digital Learning Day/Month, I travelled around the district to schools and was able to highlight great teaching practices and showcase innovative teachers, leaders, and instructional technology programs that are improving student outcomes. Below is an elementary SPED ALE teacher that uses device time in stations.
