An opening activity with faculty members is important to determine where everyone is coming from. Experiential learning is very important to factor into the conversation because adult's past experiences influence any new thinking that will take place during the study.
In this activity, members are asked to think about their personal goal, which is what he/she will most likely care about most in the curriculum and new resource, and also a school-wide goal. The school-wide thinking is important because it's moving from thinking about the 4 small classroom walls to the large 4 school walls.
To extend this activity, faculty members can create a wishlist and determine obstacles. These two lists can be revised and reflected upon throughout the rest of the process and may contribute to the evaluation scoring rubric.
